New Layout Inspiration

Ok, so I had to have it...of course I did. Elsie Flannigan's new book. She is my "latest" favorite scrapbooker. Her layouts are super fun and cute. I've been keeping up with her website and was glad to hear the announcement that she was releasing a book! The book just came out last week I think. So Monday, I rushed to the nearest store that carried it and guess what!? They only had three left. They got the book in Friday and Monday morning at opening ...only 3!! They saved me one and I hightailed it over there as fast as I could. By the time I left the store with mine there was only one sitting on the counter! What luck.
Well, today I decided to try out some fun techniques from Elsie's new book. Here's my layout.

Five Years

Last weekend was our five year anniversary...where did the time go?
Anyway, we planned to go to some places we loved and do some fun things.
We ended up going to Orlando. First we went to Wonderworks...This is a hands-on museum. That is built upside down. There are lots of fun things to do. Some of our favorites were the video game, floor piano, laser tag, air hockey, and ski balls.
Next we went to Virgin Records. Rhett has been dying to go for ages. (He's been before.) We also returned to a fun spot to eat....The Rainforest Cafe. (We went there on our first anniversary too.) And we visited the shops of Downtown Disney. We didn't buy anything except for a gift for a very special newphew for Christmas. (Ok, I'm obsessed with shopping early, at least then I dont' get stuck in the mall around Christmas.)

Scattered Thoughts

Here are some scattered pictures of our 4th of July picnic and personal fireworks show. There were about 11 people there. We had a great time visiting with our families. We enjoyed a delicious picnic. The weather was perfect.

New News

Ok...So I've temporarily misplaced the photo CD's and so I will have to put off uploading some of my favorites until a later date...now that I think of it, they may be in the car from my trip to Sam's to get some printed off.

Today has been a quiet and yet busy day. I've been working on getting stuff ready for school. We go to back to school (just the teachers) August first. I bought three new books yesterday and have already polished off two of them. Can't wait to try some of the strategies.

I'm beginning to get somewhat excited about returning to school. We have three new teachers joining our team this year. I will be the only returning classroom teacher. Our music teacher and AE21 volunteer will both be returning also. I think it will be a fun year. The new principal is crazy....like Rhett. And the new 3-5 teacher is so much fun. She is fresh outta college and her husband is a pilot. They will probably be moving here next weekend. She is also a scrapbooker....which is so exciting. I look forward to hanging out with her and hopefully Rhett hits it off with her husband. We'll see. But I hung out with her the other day and it was practically like meeting up with an old friend...so comfortable. I am VERY EXCITED about having a new friend move into the area...and we share several interests!
We went apartment hunting together. She found a cute place...but sticker shock is setting in. Everything was over $900 for a small 2 bedroom place. Welcome to Florida! She also has a really cool black Great Dane.

Today I am starting my photography classes. I'm EXCITED! I've been waiting for this almost a year! And Rhett is going with me...but he only wants to know how to photograph "cool concert pictures".

scrappin'

Yesterday I finally got a chance to scrapbook, and I got some new ideas. I wanted to try a freestyle page. Here's what I came up with.

We're Baaaaa-aack!

We're back from vacation...it seemed too short. We had a great time visiting at my sister's house with lots of my family and Rhett's too. Today I got some pictures printed off...I had several great ones that I can't wait to scrapbook. I have some of them laid out with matching papers ready to go.

Today Rhett returned to work. I returned with him...3:40 is entirely too early for anyone to be awake yet! I had to drop him off so he could pick the van up again. I ended up spending a few hours in town. I brought Rhett a donut from Turners...our favorite donut shop. Then I headed off to my school for a couple of hours. I got a few things done in there. Afterwards, I went to a scrapbook store about 30 mintues away. They had lots of great stuff that the stores around here don't carry. I spent a few $.

I will have to download some of our 4th of July vacation pictures....probably sometime next week.
