The other day I heard a quote that I've been thinking about ever since. The quote was, "Live as though you are dying." In other words, how would you change your life if you knew you only had a year to live? a month? a week? a day?... That really put things into perspective. Life has so many time wasters: t.v., computer, and other unnecessary things we fill our day with. What is important? Family...friends...relationships...Christ. If I don't get the dishes done today or didn't finish off the mountain of laundry, who cares...I got to hold my baby! I got to get down on the floor and read books to my daughter. I got to have a conversation with my husband and tell him again that I love him. Those are the important things. And when life gets crazy...as it always does, I try to remember the quote and get back to what is important and eliminate the time wasters. I want my kids to remember me playing with them, reading to them, singing silly songs, taking them swimming....not sitting in front of this computer screen all the time or being too busy for them because my favorite show is on... That really gives me a lot to think about.
