We just finished up round two of our first year with the babies in swim classes. Here are a few things I want to remember about the whole event.
*********************************************************************************
I remember Little Mr. going into the pool kicking and crying and clinging to me the first day. He was excited until the actual moment of separation. That was so hard.
I remember Little Mr. Swimming like a champ during our last session. No more tears, just excitement.
I remember Little Lady swimming her heart out. As with anything, she gives it 100+ %. It was amazing to watch her grow.
I remember Little Lady on day two being able to actually swim a bit by herself.
I remember how hard it was to get those two floating. Little Mr. was terrified. He didn't want his teacher to let go of him, even if she was just touching him by a fingernail. And Little Lady had it, but couldn't hold it very long at first.
I remember Little Mr. shouting, "Momma! Watch this." and waving and dunking under water all on his own.
I remember one time how Little Mr. kept shouting, "Momma! Hi, Momma!" And I kept saying hi too, and things like, "Im over here!" but he was looking at the wrong Momma. Then later, he had to go the bathroom and he walked right up to the other momma before he realized that wasn't who he thought it was.
I remember Little Mr.'s confidence in the water grew from knowing nothing about it, to being willing to try things and even dunking his face under the water proudly on his own.
I remember how Little Lady struggled to get her face in the water to do the freestyle, but when she did it, she was super proud...and so was I.
I remember how 4 days a week, for a month we headed to the aquatic center a bit early so the littles could get into the pool at 10:45 sharp.
I remember being the only ones to bring a small gift for our swim teachers and how much they appreciated it. One was even tearing up.
I remember talking with the littles after giving the teachers a gift. We talked about how happy the teachers were and how good we felt inside after doing nice things for others.
I remember showing up on the last day of class and finding out swim class was cancelled due to the rain.
I remember the excitement of getting an Icee pop from the snack booth a couple of times.
I remember that Little Lady had exactly 5 bathing suits and the first five classes, she wore a different one every time.
I remember Little Lady liking to bring the polka-dot towel. And Little Mr. wanting to bring the Mickey Mouse one.
I remember how every day after class, those two littles were starving and so we usually brought a lunch to eat on the way home.
I remember how the littles noticed lots of other kids with goggles and asked for a pair of their own. Little Lady picked pink ones with white polka-dots and Little Mr. picked blue sparkly ones with green straps.
I remember how Little Mr. kept wearing his goggles everywhere we went, including the store for a couple of days after we got them. And people passing by were smiling because it was so cute.
I remember how Little Mr. looked a little special wearing those goggles.
I remember how proud I was watching them.
I remember telling them, "I loved watching you swim!"
