Letters to my Daughter ~ April 2014

Hello my Sweetie Petitey,

I can't believe all that you've been reading lately! You've been noticing words and trying to read real books. You just passed into level C in your reading class! You have just taken off. And you are so proud. Sometimes you ask to read us a story at worship. You work very hard at trying to get all those big words. There are many books you can read with just a bit of help.

I'm so glad that you look for ways to make our family happy. You love to share with brother. And usually share without being told. You love to give Daddy back rubs. And the past couple of days, you have been making beautiful flower bouquets for me, tied up with ribbons.

You are completely princess obsessed right now. You got to meet most of the Disney princesses and filled up your autograph book, and to you, that was better than the rides. You waited over 2 hours just to meet Anna and Elsa from your new favorite movie, Frozen.

You are sweet and funny and spunky and rough and gentle all wrapped up together. You are quiet and loud and creative and thoughtful. You love to put a smile on someone else's face. You are tough and aren't easily pushed around.

You have deep conversations with me about spiritual things. We talk about our mansions in Heaven and what exotic pets we will have there. We like to dream about all that stuff together.

You love to sing with me and do hand clap rhymes. You teach me the latest ones straight from the playground. You mentioned learning to ride your bike...without training wheels. You have started trying to tie your shoes, but don't quite have it.

You wake up quickly in the morning and are ready to eat right away. You have an incredibly large sweet tooth. You have the gift of gab and can tell a great story with tons and tons...and tons of details. You also write with tons of details and the little lined paper they give you in kindergarten class is often just not enough space for you to get down your story. I'm starting to see real words with the real spelling appear in the stories you bring home. And that is so exciting!

If I haven't told you yet today, I'm so proud of you... and I love you very much.

Egg Hunt

What a fun little egg hunt we had with friends. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the day.

Letters to my Son ~ April 2014

Little Mr.,

You are one fun little guy. You are always wanting to play. And when it is bedtime, I often hear you say, "But, I didn't get to play!" You are such a good little boy and can entertain yourself for hours. This past Christmas, you were all about superheroes. So I knew that we just had to do a superhero shoot for you. These are a couple of your costumes, but I'm hoping to get the rest too.

You are always so cautious in new situations or when you are out of your comfort zone. Every single Sabbath, you cling to Momma. During all the activities in your class, you drag me with you. You miss out on the fun stuff, like riding in the boat, and you'd LOVE that....just because you are too scared to do it by yourself. You lack the confidence. Today you went to the farm with  Ms. Ilka. I heard rumors that you clung to her like glue. You even missed out on the horse ride because you were too nervous!

I hope that you can gain confidence. Next year, you will start school. You will be there in your class without Momma...or Sissy. And you will learn to be your own person. You will grow and change in so many ways over the next year and that makes me happy and sad all at once.

There are thousands of memories of you each month that I just want to hold on to and never forget. Like today. I was talking with Aunt Karon on Skype and you told her that when you were born, you came out of Momma and saw that she was different. But that you decided to stay with her. You have a crazy, fun imagination. You invented your own theme park called Disney World Jr. that was full of dinosaurs and in your imagination, it was so real that you kept asking us when we were going to go there. And like the holeguy you tell stories about too. You tell some real whoppers!

I love that right now, whenever we are telling Bible stories, you are willing to share. That wasn't the case not so long ago. But now you always ask if you can tell Peter cut off the ear. It's the story you are obsessed with. You go around the house wearing a belt over your shirt and have swords hanging off of it. You love watching that on our Bible video too! And I love that when you pray, you have changed up your usual prayer of, "Dear Jesus, thank you for this day." and have now added, "And please be with Jasmyn (our kitty) and help her feel better (although I'm not sure what's wrong with her...you say it's because she "throwed up").

I love watching you run and play. And I love watching your reaction as you watch movies and just laugh and sing along. I love watching how you actually role-play the movie as you are watching. You literally play along with the story line. Either with toys or just by acting it out. And when it's over, you want to play the story from that movie again and again. Right now, you are really loving the movie Frozen and watch it just about every day. And you also like the new Veggie Tales Outer Space one too.

I love how you try your hardest to stay awake after bedtime so you can come and snuggle with me when I go to bed. But I also love to find you sound asleep in your own bed and realize I will have my whole side of the bed to myself. I like to see how peaceful you are while you are sleeping.

I love how you talk to me about God and Heaven. And how you ask me questions about all that stuff. I love how I am your favorite person in the world, because I know that won't always be the case. But for right now, I am so glad that I am your world.
