Slowin' down...hopefully

School is now in full swing. We've completed two weeks and have started our third. I have 9 students in K-2. It's nice having a small group with three grades. They sure keep me busy!
I've also been busy making costumes for a pirate party we went to this last weekend. I worked on these almost every night for 2 weeks straight, plus Sundays. Rhett's was the time consuming one. He picked a great pattern out, but it was just very detailed. We had a great time at the party. We were hoping for a day off today for the hurricane, but it looks as though we will have to wait for Monday and Labor day. I'm ready for a break...hard to believe since we just started school, but I've been swamped. It's exhausting training the little kids at school and that's what we do for the first 2-3 weeks. We're just setting up expectations and slowing learning the routine, getting in lots of practice, learning how to obey, and slowly adding in classes. We're just about to a normal schedule this week except we are doing testing. I've just about got them trained. On to the next project I guess.

Actually, the next thing is that I'll be teaching a class in October at our school's fall festival for scrapbooking. Everyone who attends the crop will complete two pages. It should be fun, but I have to get everything ready. I have the ideas sketched or copied down for the layout and now I need to get the samples ready.

Another Boy

Well......it's another boy on the way for my sister. Yesterday she found out. Zack was NOT happy. He was hoping for a sister. He got really upset! Hopefully he'll get over it before the new baby arrives. No name is picked out yet for a boy. The only name picked out was for a girl, so it's back to the drawing board for them.

Craziness

There's a whole lot of craziness going on here as we prepare for the school year. I just returned to work on Sunday, and I am exhausted...not used to working anymore I guess. We had two days of registration...not a huge turn out. I have 7 kids registered for my class. That's the smallest amount I have ever had here. We have four teachers for next year, so I am wondering how we're going to make this work. Hopefully no downsizing like a couple of years ago.
School starts a week from Monday, and my classroom is finished, my lesson plans are finished, all I have to do is prepare a few things so I am working from home today.
Next week (Sunday-Wednesday) I will be living in the lap of luxury. We (All the North American Adventist teachers) are headed to Nashville for a huge teacher's convention. I'm staying in the Opryland Hotel which is beautiful. I can't wait. I need a little luxury before starting the school year. I can't wait to see friends and familiy members who are also teachers. How exciting!
