There is such an excitement over here at the thought of Christmas. My two babies are filled up to overflowing with it, and quite frankly, I've been filled with Christmas spirit too.
We got our tree, decorated it, decorated our house, set out the Nativity sets and brought out the Christmas quilt and the elves.
We've had more cups of hot chocolate than I care to count and tonight we had Christmas tree pancakes for supper.
Christmas is so exciting for little children. They have dreams of Christmas morning and have been telling us about what they want for Christmas. Little Mr. is all about G.I. Joes this year. And Little Lady is fixated on getting the Elsa dress and wig and getting an American Girl doll and some accessories (and thankfully, she doesn't mind the knock-offs at Target and Walmart).
Yes, it's going to be another great Christmas. We've been playing with the nativity sets and talking about why we have lights at Christmas (because Jesus is the light of the world and we are to be his shining light too). And the tree-topper star is a reminder of the star that the wise men followed to Bethlehem. We're reading an advent devotional book for kids and they are so excited about hearing the stories surrounding Jesus' birth.
We're trying to balance the fun of Christmas with the real reason. And in the midst of it all, we're looking for ways we can help others who need our help. The babies need to see us helping others. They need to feel the excitement of giving to others who cannot give to them in return.
This Christmas season, I pray we can all draw closer to Jesus...the true reason for the season.
