Fires
We've been experiencing very dry weather. With dry weather comes forest fires. We've had a few around here the past few months. But, today when I went to my car after work I caught the news first thing. The interstate was closed down at our exit...and at a couple of other exits. I had to take an alternate route. I did pretty well on my chosen route until about five miles from my turn off...then traffic became stop and go. We'd have to pull over for fire trucks, police cars, etc. We could see smoke in the distance. Finally after about 1 1/4 hours I was able to turn off to my road. What should have been normally a 45 minute drive was nearly doubled. On the way home, I saw people squirting water all over their roofs. There were emergency vehicles all over. Helicopters were circling the area as well as a plane. The fire was about 1-3 miles from here but has burned something like 300 acres...I don't think any homes will be destroyed though..none so far. What a crazy day...and it started with no electricity this morning from about 4am till sometime after we were gone for work.
