I was thinking the other day about your birthday, your fifth one! What a milestone that seems to be. Five is the age where memories start to stick. I always wonder what you will remember. We tried to do so many things. Now that you are five, I know that more things will stick with you. More memories will last. I think I have very few memories of my life before five, but lots and lots from that point on. And that is exciting to think about for you.
And so on your fifth birthday, I wanted to tell you about five things I absolutely adore about you, my little girl. (There are of course a multitude more, as many as the stars in the sky, but you've just turned five, so I'll limit myself to that for today.)
1) You love Jesus with all your heart. You talk about Him, sing about Him, read about Him, teach about Him. You worry about people who don't know Him. You think about living with Him in Heaven and we talk about all the things we're going to see and do there.
2) Your passion. You are passionate in your love...and yes, in your anger too. You wear your heart on your sleeve and cry at the drop of a hat. You proudly proclaim me to be the best mommy in the whole wide world, and Daddy, the best daddy in the whole wide world. You shout out your love for us...."I love you deep. I love you wide. I love you to Heaven and back!"
3) Your wonder. I love your questions, they are so deep and you find wonder in things all around you. There are so many things that I see that I have taken for grated that you find wonder in. You have so many, many questions and that's great because I know that you have a love of learning.
4) Your helpfulness. You love to help. Ever since you were big enough to walk, you have found great pleasure in helping. You often ask, "Can I help with supper? Can I help fold the clothes? What can I help with?" It's wonderful to have such a cheerful helper who is always right there when I need them most.
5) Your maternal instinct. It's strong already. REALLY strong! Sometimes it smothers your brother. You are so careful with your "sissies" (dolls), making sure they are all warm with their very own blankets. You kiss and love on them and sing and pray to them. You teach them school and Sabbath School. You roll them around in your double stroller and carry them in the car carrier. You bathe them in their bathtub and dress them and change their diapers. You are a little mother and I absolutely LOVE that!
