To My Girl: A Word about the New School Year

Little Girlie,

Second grade? Not sure how we got here already. You weren't especially excited about starting the school year. You were sure that second grade would be super duper hard. You kept saying you didn't want to go to school.
But after school, you were all excited, telling me about your new pencil and owl eraser Mrs. Rivera gave you...and the little owls with all the students' names and the big owl with Mrs. Rivera's name. You were sure to tell me that you thought second grade was easy peasy. And now you are excited about returning tomorrow and the rest of the year. You can hardly wait.
You got a new haircut and everyone LOVED it. You look so different...more grown up. I'm so happy that you changed your mind about school. I only hope that you will continue to love it even when things are challenging. I pray that you will do your best and not give up when the going gets tough. Keep doing your best, Baby, and let Jesus help you with the hard stuff.
Love ya.
Mamma.
