A slightly tearful goodbye.

Dear Baby Girl,

Tomorrow, you start a new school year, this time, kindergarten. And what an exciting year it will be! This is the year that you will learn to read. You will begin to add and subtract, tell time, and recognize money in math. You will probably even put your pencil to a paper and create basic stories that I will treasure and love to read again and again. You will meet new people and make new friends. You will pick up where you left off on old friendships and strengthen them. You will have another amazing teacher, Mrs. Wyatte. And you will continue, I hope to run down the hallways at my lunchtime and throw your arms excitedly around me. You will grow taller, change shoe sizes, and probably clothing size too. But most of all, I hope you will grow in Jesus and your love for Him will shine brighter with each passing day.

You will no longer be one of the youngest, and maybe not even the shortest in the school. Others will be watching, looking up to you. They will know that you love Jesus and may not know Him for themselves. You will be a witness to them. Stand strong, baby. There will be some who will try to get you to do things that are not right, but I pray you will look to Jesus and do what He would.

You will come home with fun and exciting adventures to tell about and you will come home with a broken heart, tearful because of someone's thoughtlessness. And in those moments, I will hold you, and rock you , and sing to you, and listen. I will hurt because you do, but I will remind you that Jesus cares even more than I do. And together, we will pray that the next day will be better. But mostly, there will be memories that will be sweet and last a lifetime.

So make the best of it. Work hard. Always do your best and let Jesus shine from you this year.

Love,
Momma
